Taino Academy at Lucaya International School (TALIS)
Taino Academy at Lucaya International School (TALIS) is a specialised secondary-school academic pathway designed to meet the needs of students who require curriculum modifications that extend beyond the accommodations permitted within the IGCSE and IB Diploma Programmes.
Lucaya International School recognises that while the IGCSE and IB Diploma programmes are academically rigorous and effective college-preparatory programmes, they do not allow for modifications to final assessments. TALIS provides an alternative, standards-aligned pathway for capable and motivated students whose learning needs prevent successful participation in these programmes, while maintaining appropriate levels of academic challenge and accountability.
Students enrolled in TALIS follow individualised learning plans, receive targeted academic support, and work toward clearly defined graduation requirements. Depending on the successful completion of these requirements, students may earn either a High School Diploma (TALIS Pathway) or a Certificate of High School Completion.
Lucaya International School remains a college-preparatory institution, and admission to TALIS is not intended to reduce academic expectations. Rather, the programme is designed to ensure equitable access to learning, measurable academic progress, and transparent graduation outcomes for students whose needs cannot be fully met within traditional secondary pathways.
Through TALIS, Lucaya International School demonstrates its commitment to inclusive educational practice, appropriate curriculum modification, and continuous review, in alignment with the expectations of IBO, NECOB, CIS and NEASC accreditation standards.
